The Chicago area could be a wetland this weekend.

Saturdays were generally cloudy, refreshing, hot and humid, with showers expected to reach their highest temperatures in the late 1980s.

From afternoon to night, Chicago could see the threat of a severe storm, according to the latest forecast models, but there was plenty of dry weather between storms. Storms can lead to periods of heavy rain and strong gusts.

Flash Flood watches are published in certain counties of Illinois and Northwest Indiana: Benton (IN), Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Will, Ford, Grandy, Jasper (IN), Kane, Kankakee, Kendal , Lake (IN), LaSalle, Lee, Livingston, Newton (IN), Porter (IN).

The clock is valid until Sunday morning.

Most partly cloudy conditions continue through Sunday, with rain and isolated storms scattered across southern and northwest Indiana. These southerly showers can be heavy, but stay outside of Chicago, meteorologists from the NBC5 Storm team explain.

From Sunday to Wednesday, temperatures are expected to reach the low 80s, but cooler on the shores of the lake.

Weekdays are partially sunny on Mondays, warmer seasonally and can be rainy or stormy again. The rainy weather will continue throughout the week until next weekend.
