Workshop 1: Introduction to Drupal For Everyone
What is Drupal? Where did Drupal come from? How can Drupal help you?
You will jump into the driver seat with our hands-on experience known as the "Drupal Test Drive". Not only will we cover an introduction to Drupal, you will build a basic website that will feature your own personal blog and integrates into your exisiting social networks such as twitter and facebook. Learn how to create and edit content. Utilize open source modules to extend functionality of your website. Add users and manage groups with permissions.

. Expect a relaxed environment to learn about Drupal. Laptops are encouraged to enhance learning experience and we encourage you to bring questions.
Instructors: Matthew Lechleider & Sean Charles
Matthew : is a product of the Nintendo Generation. He has spent 10 - 15 hours online everyday since before the Internet was cool. Matthew enjoys traveling the world speaking at conferences, skateboarding, and Linux. Organizing the Chicago Drupal Meet Up Group (cdmug.org) and the annual Drupal Camp Chicago takes up the majority of his volunteer efforts. In addition to saving companies money by utilizing open source technologies, Matthew also teaches Drupal training classes.
Sean: comes to Drupal with a background in LAMP and object oriented programming. He is a long time corporate technologies instructor who has trained employees of AT&T, Monster.com, officers of the US Army, and enjoys Drupal programming more than any other CMS. Sean is also CEO of Chicago based SRC Web Design which specializes in Drupal development.
Workshop 2: Introduction to Drupal For Designers
Design workshop will start with a basic overview of Drupal and progress to the theme layer, including an in-depth look at custom theming. Hans and Bob will introduce the four ways of theming a Drupal site and discuss the pros and cons and when each approach is most appropriate.
Everyone is welcome, but attendees who understand how to compose an html page and theme it using .css will get the most out of this session.
Instructors:Hans Riemenschneider & Bob Snodgrass
Hans : has been a dedicated CDMUG member from the start. He has presented Drupal Camp Chicago 2008 and 2009. Plus presented at countless meetups over the years. Achiving a BA in Graphic Design and came from the world of print design. He became interested in static HTML in '97 and a few years later became a big fan of WYSIWYG editors (GoLive and Dreamweaver) after using them for several employers and freelance work. However, "As the web developed it became clear that I needed additional functionality and in early 2007 I started investigating open source frameworks. Drupal made the most sense to me." He has since become active in the Chicago Drupal community with the Chicago Drupal Meetup Group and an Assistant Organizer of the Fox Valley Drupal Meetup Group. Hans runs GoGrow.org and does freelance work with several Drupal shops.
Bob : became active in the Drupal community years ago through CDMUG and now organizes the Fox Valley Drupal Users group . He enjoys working with Drupal full time over the last three years for his company, net2Community, Inc . which provides interactive public facing websites as well as private intranet applications. net2Community uses the Drupal content management and application development framework with a focus on communication tools for local organizations, community groups, and businesses.
