“Virginia is for…” | Launch of the 2022 tourist campaign
HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) – As tourism continues to recover from the blows of the pandemic, the Virginia Tourism Corporation has launched its new 2022 flagship campaign to entice more people to visit the Commonwealth. It’s a spin-off of the iconic 50-year-old slogan “Virginia is for Lovers.”
It’s titled “Virginia is for…” and features three main pillars of the best experiences that many travelers seek when choosing their next destination: outdoor beauty, family-friendly experiences, and the local cultural/food scene. .
“We based these pillars on research where we know people are interested in these things when they go on vacation,” said Lindsey Norment, Chief Brand Officer at VTC. “That’s also what we know Virginia does very well. We will continue to reach markets within driving distance, but we are expanding a bit so that we can catch people’s attention when they are ready to fly.
Along with our core markets, like Baltimore, DC, Philadelphia and New York, VTC will expand to reach new audiences in places like Chicago, Boston and Nashville.
“The ‘Virginia is for…’ campaign aims to connect this powerful brand equity to Virginia’s abundance of travel experiences, and invites new and repeat travelers to come and discover for themselves why Virginia is for lovers,” Rita McClenny, president and CEO of Virginia Tourism Corporation, said.
Jennifer Bell, Friendly City’s tourism manager, said she had high hopes for tourism in the coming months.
“I’m very optimistic that we’re going to see a very strong rebound this summer and maybe even some further growth in our tourism, maybe compared to 2019 numbers,” Bell said.
She said this new campaign highlights experiences a traveler could easily find in Harrisonburg and the Shenandoah Valley.
“As part of campaigns like the ‘Virginia is for Outdoor Lovers’ campaign, I think we’re on the right track and perfectly positioned to be the type of destination people are looking for, so I think it should be a strong summer. for us,” Bell said.
The primary goal of the campaign is to raise awareness of all that Virginia has to offer. The campaign will run until mid-November 2022.
