Theming with Grid Systems

Grids have long been a foundational consideration in modern graphic and text design for much the last century, but only recently have they become something of a fashionable standard on the web. In this session, I plan on covering: * What are grids? Why use them? * Examples of sites using grids as a design and a theming system * Benefits of using grid systems * Potential drawbacks of grids, both general and specific * Using a grid as a base theme in Drupal * Grid-related resources on the web This session will be fairly abstracted from the nitty-gritty of theming—that is, focus more on the HTML/CSS of the grid systems themselves vs. particulars of Drupal integration, though I hope to cover some of that as well. A fair amount of HTML/CSS knowledge will be required.
