Drupal theming as always been more rigid and inflexible than it needs to be. With the advent of Drupal 6's template preprocessing system, the designer and developer have significantly more power to easily theme any Drupal element. When Drupal 6 theming is used in conjunction with Nodequeue, Views 2, and the presenter's forthcoming Blocktools module, one can compose extremely sophisticated layouts with a simple menu callback and template preprocessor.
