Format for Meet-ups

Last night's meetup was great, Thanks again to Matthew and Kyle for organizing and I.C. Stars for hosting!

I like the energy having quite a few new people (and some we haven't seen for a bit) at the meetup last night. We had some great discussion about what we could do for meetup content.... Not to put any more work on our organizers, but I think we can come up with a standard Agenda that can accommodate all the ideas I heard last night. Here is my attempt:

  • Introductions and Agenda additions
    • People would offer up at the beginning who they are and what they might offer to the agenda for the evening. The agenda could of course be developed via CDMUG before we all get there.
    • We all "have things we need" and "things we can help with", I would suggest that people can request and offer assistance and choose a time during the evening to do a breakout... (if the venue is appropriate) maybe this will cut down on the DIN of several side conversations that occurs at times that are more "unstructured" or "off-topic".
  • Chicago Drupal Meetup User Group news and events
    • A summary update on events and other learning opportunities of interest to the group
  • Learning Time
    • Presentation of some Module or Drupal capabiltity
  • Site Showcase
    • anyone with a site or site idea they would like to share could give a short presentation. I am also excited to find out how something was done when I see these, but if we held the, "How did you do that questions" for later follow-up we could see more sites and get more ideas.
  • Breakouts (if the venue isn't conducive to breakouts they could be done before or after meetup time)
    • These can happen anytime after the introductions and CDMUG news and events. People doing breakouts choose the time where they miss the least from Learning Time and Site Showcase.

So there's my two cents worth on agenda? Comments and discussion please!
